Wicken Fen Wholesome Foods started in 1992 making vegetarian sausages in Wicken near Cambridge. Since 1994 the sausages have been made from a purpose built factory. This in the heart of the Scottish Borders at Duns in Berwickshire.

Our first customers were health food shops in East Anglia and Simply Sausage shops in London then we persuaded wholesalers to stock our sausages and distribute them to health food shops around the whole of the UK. We have supplied various supermarkets over the years and currently supply Sainsburys. We have also built up a range of foodservice customers including airline meal suppliers, hotel groups and wholesalers.

We have won various awards over the years for our products and have a loyal customer base that write and tell us when we are doing things right and wrong.

We are now in the process of making our products even healthier reducing the fat and salt levels, increasing the fibre level. A great deal of thought is going into our recipes helping our customers eat the recommended 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day to keep them healthy.

Wicken Fen realises that nutrient dense foods are vital for the 21st century consumer. 'Empty calories' are leading to people to be starved of nutrients. Food based vitamins and minerals are not manufactured and easier to absorb and therefore far more effective.

For customers who really want to boost their health we have developed a food powder called Nutrivert. A 5g spoonful a day will ensure you are eating a wide range of food based vitamins, minerals, fibre probiotic bacteria and prebiotics.
